The 2015 Green Expo

Saturday, September 12th — 11:00 AM through 5:00 PM — featuring more than 75 “Green Living” exhibitors, educators, and vendors in New Haven’s beautiful Edgerton Park.

CLOTHING RECYCLING  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut conducted a Clothing Drive at their Green Expo booth. Attendees brought donations of “clean and in good condition” clothes and shoes. Anyone who donated a bag of clothing received a special gift from Big Brothers Big Sisters!

GIANT WATER FOUNTAIN  The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) set up a giant water fountain, near the Green Kids Activities area, for sharing the RWA’s high quality water. The fountain’s features included both bubblers and water-bottle fill stations.  So: refreshing and fun!

TIDEWATER INSTITUTE  Connecticut Folk and Tidewater Institute collaboratively coordinated this year’s Green Expo. Tidewater Institute implements a modern approach to environmental action through unusual partnerships, using 21st century tools that assist individuals and communities to make sustainable and cost-effective choices a part of everyday life.

CITY ATLAS: NEW HAVEN  Over the last decade, the Green Expo has given attendees new and exciting ways to make small changes in their lives, helping them toward an environmentally-conscious lifestyle. This year Connecticut Folk teamed with City Atlas: New Haven to celebrate “10 Years of Community Sustainability.” Attendees stopped by the City Atlas: New Haven vendor space (#70) between noon and 3:00 PM and shared what changes they have made, or planned to make, based on what they have learned from the Green Expo’s incredible exhibitors and vendors. Remember: What you do makes a difference in the health and well-being of the place you live and the people who live there!

MUSIC AT MEIER’S  Attendees experienced something HOT at the Meier Food Products vendor space (#62): Devil’s Envy Hot Sauce, made right in New Haven. They also stuck around for something COOL: live music, performed throughout the day.

3 DEGREES/NORTHEAST CLEAN POWER provided Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for all of the electrical power that was used at the Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo.

Many thanks to THE SPONSORS of the 2015 Connecticut Green Expo!
