The 2017 Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo will be held on Saturday, September 9th. The gates at Edgerton Park open at 11:00 a.m. The Green Expo begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. Music performances begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 10:00 p.m.
Location and Parking
Edgerton Park, located in New Haven near the Hamden town line, is bordered by Whitney Avenue, Cliff Street and Edgehill Road. The entrance to the park is at 75 Cliff Street. There is parking on the streets surrounding Edgerton Park. There are no vehicles allowed in the park during the Festival-Expo, except for those using the limited number of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking spaces. These spaces are available on a “first come” basis.
Persons who require ADA accommodations parking must enter at the gate on Edgehill Road and be escorted by Festival-Expo staff to ADA parking.
The performance schedule will be available on-line prior to the event for viewing and/or downloading. The schedule will also be available at the event.
Trash and Recycling
Connecticut Folk is working to create a zero waste event. Separate receptacles for trash, recycling and compost will be stationed throughout the Festival-Expo grounds.
The Green Kids Activities area of the Expo will have many activities and resources available specifically for children to enjoy. Live performances of Children’s Music will take place throughout the afternoon in the Green Kids Acoustic Corner. The schedule of activities and performers will be available on-line and at the event.
Strollers and children-toting wagons are permitted on the Festival-Expo grounds.
Concert seating will be “general admission” throughout the day. Audience members are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and may select a “spot” on a first-come basis.
There will be designated areas for persons with disabilities. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., there will be two additional designated areas: a “blankets and LOW chairs only” area and a “full-sized chairs” area (located farther from the stage). There will also be designated aisles in which audience members should neither sit nor congregate.
Tents, canopies and beach umbrellas are not permitted in the audience areas.
Food and Drink
Vendors will offer a wide variety of food and beverage options throughout the day and evening, including vegetarian and vegan options. (We now have a beer and wine tent!)
No outside alcohol or large coolers allowed.
Water Refill stations will be available on grounds.
First Aid will be available at the Volunteers HQ area, located immediately behind the Connecticut Folk information area.
Pets are allowed. Please keep them leashed and respectful of park grounds.
CDs and Merchandise
Performer CDs, t-shirts, and other merchandise will be available for purchase at the Merchandise Booth. There will not be an ATM at the Festival-Expo.
Rest Room Facilities
There will be port-o-let units, including an ADA Accessible unit, on the Festival-Expo grounds. The units will be lit during the evening.

There will be ADA Accessible rest-room facilities on the Festival-Expo grounds.
There will be limited lighting on the Festival-Expo grounds in the evening. It is recommended that evening-event attendees bring either a flashlight or a cellphone with an installed “flashlight app.”
Rest room units will be lit during the evening.
The Festival-Expo is a rain or shine event. In the event of a deluge or a weather-related safety issue, any location change will be announced from the Festival Stage and posted to the Connecticut Folk Facebook page.
Festival-Expo attendees may take photographs throughout the day. However, only the official Connecticut Folk photographer is allowed backstage or on any of the Festival-Expo structures.
Festival-Expo staff, wearing Connecticut Folk t-shirts, will be working throughout the event and will gladly assist attendees.
